Driving. It’s one of those things, some of us hate it, some of us love it – wouldn’t it be great to get paid for something you love?

Right now the driving industry is in need of some fresh new faces to join thousands of other drivers on the roads of the UK and Europe to make up for those moving into retirement and leaving the job.

The need for drivers comes with many misconceptions of the job. Of course, in the past, driving a lorry was a lonely and unsafe job, with few regulations on working conditions; it was an unattractive proposition for anyone to think about doing. But in recent years, as more and more rules come in to play for the drivers of our goods, working conditions and job satisfaction is on the rise in the industry.

Not only do you get excellent working regulations, there is an amazing pay structure due to the demand for LGV drivers. Many organisations are offering extremely competitive salaries and bonus schemes for drivers, simply because there isn’t enough of them. This doesn’t mean however, that you’re guaranteed to find a job at the end of your training, but you’re in a pretty good position.

Feel it’s your ideal job but you would be away from your home and family for too long? Good news, routes vary. Being a driver doesn’t have to mean you’re away from home four or five days at a time. You could pick up routes in your region, meaning you’d be home every night, often known as day drivers, these types of routes are ideal for those who enjoy driving but have a family to take care of at the weekend. Should you want to get away every week, you could even pick up routes across Europe and see some of the world whilst getting paid.
